The Brief
The team behind OMG Candy identified a trend in the market and wanted to create a brand to capitalise on it. Riding the wave of the freeze dried sweets trend, beloved of Gen Z and millennials alike, OMG Candy was born.
What We Did
From naming and visual and verbal brand creation, to website design and development, we supported the team with full brand creation.
Firstly, we researched, explored and provided a selection of suitable naming options. Once OMG Candy was selected, we developed a bright, fun and slightly nostalgic look and feel to stand out on FYP pages as well as shelves.
We observed that, when freeze-dried, the candy puffed up and looked like little rocks or boulders. That, combined with where the technology came from (it’s been around for years, specifically developed for space travel), led us to the theme of ‘space rocks’.
We built the brand around this underpinning idea, tapping into the nostalgic fascination with space that many of us had as kids, especially in the 90s. We expanded this approach to the four products in the range, Space Rocks, Blue Moons, Astro Apples and Star Drops.
This brand was created to be fun, reactive and to not take itself too seriously. We created a series of punny, engaging taglines like ‘freeze the day’ and ‘taste the cosmos’ to further lean into the fun nostalgia of this brand which, when supported by bold, bright and galactic textures, deliver a bright and engaging experience overall.
The website experience is slick, simple and engaging, showcasing the products and brand identity in a fun and playful way. Scroll based animations guide the user through the SKUs, drawing audiences closer to the brand.
The Results
OMG Candy stands head and shoulders above its competitors in the freeze dried and candy spaces. With lofty goals and an eye on new products, we look forward to watching this brand continue to grow and dominate in 2025 and beyond.
