We’re hiring: Freelance Mid-Weight Designer

Intro

We’re Our Own Brand (OOB) – a London based, globally fluent social media agency turning brands into cultural icons.

We’re looking for a freelance mid weight designer who lives and breathes content creation for social. Someone who can create platform native, high impact, scroll-stopping assets that land, everytime.

This is a freelance role working between our office in Richmond, London and from home. 

The role

You’ll be supporting our team across a mix of always on content and campaign moments, primarily designing graphic-led social assets (static and light motion) using Canva.

You’re confident in interpreting creative direction, working fast without cutting corners and elevating design outcomes while staying on brand.

This role is perfect for someone who’s:

• Platform native (you know the safe zones for Reels, the pacing of a TikTok carousel, and you get type setting for small screens)
• Detail obsessed (kerning, am I right?)
• Speedy but slick (You can turn a brief into a polished asset at the speed of social without losing the designer’s touch)
• Collaborative and calm under pressure

What you’ll be creating

You’ll design across a wide range of social deliverables, including:

• Instagram carousels & stories
• TikTok graphic overlays, templates & carousels
• Announcement assets (launches, PR moments, event comms)
• Brand toolkits & social systems
• Type-led layouts, culture-led memes (when appropriate), editorial-style grids
• Light motion graphics (optional but a big plus)
• AI prompting with purpose (when required)

Responsibilities

• Design bespoke high quality graphic content for organic and paid social 
• Build clean, scalable content templates for ongoing output
• Interpret and apply brand guidelines with precision and creative flair
• Bring layouts to life through type, hierarchy, composition and pacing
• Work collaboratively with our social and creative teams to turn ideas into assets 
• Prepare exports correctly across formats and ratios
• Manage feedback rounds efficiently 

What we’re looking for

Must haves

• 3+ years experience in design (agency or social-led studio ideally)
• A strong portfolio showing social-first graphic work
• Excellent typography and layout skills (this is non-negotiable)
• Confident in designing within brand systems and pushing them creatively
• An expert in Photoshop, Illustrator and Canva (and ideally After Effects)
• Organised file handling (named layers, tidy folders, easy handover)
• Comfortable juggling multiple deliverables with fast turnarounds
